This is a small piece of SH 2-129, commonly referred to as the Flying Bat nebula. At some point, I would like to revisit this area and take a wider field view with longer exposure times. There is a very faint nebula called “The Squid” that is beyond the top of this image, and it would be nice to try to capture that. The nebula shown here is an emission nebula, not too far from the Elephant’s Trunk, which you can see in one of my other images. For Star Trek fans, I think this looks like a Klingon bird of prey that’s just fired three photon torpedoes.
